BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Staff is requesting approval for the purchase of a front-load refuse truck. The manufacturer of the current asset is no longer in operation and parts are costly and hard to find. The Fleet Services Division has evaluated the current asset and is recommending early replacement.
The city will utilize Chastang Enterprises Inc. under a BuyBoard cooperative agreement which has been competitively procured. The schedule below will provide details on the purchase.

In addition, staff recommends declaring the replaced vehicle as surplus which allows for the future sale or donation of the asset.
Budget Amendment:
A budget amendment is required to redistribute equipment replacement reserves to the Solid Waste Capital budget. This amendment will lower the total budgeted equipment replacement reserves to $1,831,957.
ISSUE:
Staff is requesting the early replacement of asset 54305 to maintain fiscal stability of city operations.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The costs for the vehicle described above is incorporated into the FY 2025 Solid Waste Reserve Fund. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to purchase the vehicle.
