Recommendation
Currently, Landa Park Aquatic Complex and City Tube Chute open the first weekend in May. They are both open weekends until Memorial Day, then open 7 days/week until mid-August. At that time, both facilities operate on weekends only until the close of operations after Labor Day Weekend.
Mid-August the Parks Department undergoes a large drop off in staffing, due to school going back into session. Operational changes can allow for pre-season programming, staff training and a higher level of service offerings to the community during operation dates.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approving the dates of operation to now be as follows:
City Tube Chute - No Change
Open the first weekend in May.
Open weekends until Memorial Day, then open 7 days/week until the weekend prior to school starting (NBISD).
Open weekends through Labor Day Weekend.
Labor Day is the last day of seasonal operations.
Landa Park Aquatic Complex
Open Memorial Day Weekend.
Open 7 days/week through the weekend prior to school starting (NBISD).
Reopen for Labor Day weekend (Sat., Sun. & Mon.).
Labor Day is the last day of seasonal operations.
