BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In accordance with Texas Government Code Chapter 272.006, the City may not sell or transfer ownership of marked law enforcement vehicles to the general public. As such, it is in the best interest of the City to sell these units to another authorized political subdivision to avoid the labor and fees associated with the removal of the markings and equipment. The City of Brownsville has expressed a need for used law enforcement vehicles and has expressed interest in purchasing surplus vehicles from the City. The issuance of this Interlocal agreement will establish the guidelines and processes by which City and Brownsville will manage future transactions for such vehicles and equipment.
ISSUE:
The City has identified law enforcement vehicles as surplus that need to be disposed of according to Local Government Code.
