BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Das Rec has been in operation for five years. Membership has exceeded original expectations and now has over 17,000 members. This has resulted in very high use of equipment at the facility.
Staff have identified replacement of equipment with the highest hours of use. New equipment will include:
• 5 treadmills
• 5 Spin Cycles
• 3 Ellipticals
• 1 Octane Machine
• 1 Recumbent Bike
• 1 Stair Master
• 1 Stretch Station
• 1 Ab Machine
• 1 Leg Extension Machine
• 1 Leg Curl Machine
• 1 Plyo Box
• 1 Battle Rope
Staff are recommending the purchased from Comm Fit Holdings, LLC at a cost of for $99,998, utilizing a BuyBoard cooperative contract, thereby satisfying the competitive procurement requirements. The existing equipment will be declared as surplus and disposed of according to policy.
ISSUE:
Replacing high use equipment will minimize time equipment is out of service for maintenance/repairs and help to retain members, resulting in continued positive cost recovery.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The FY 2024 Parks and Recreation adopted budget includes $100,000 for equipment replacement at Das Rec, therefore sufficient funds are available for this purchase.
