BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City has been awarded a Federal Aviation Administration grant for the environmental assessment, design, and construction of a perimeter fence and access control gates at the New Braunfels National Airport. Construction of the perimeter fence will improve operational safety by increasing airfield security from Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations, and provide wildlife game resistance.
Staff recommends issuing an invitation for a Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) as the procurement method for the contract to construct this project. The CSP method allows the City to evaluate the most qualified contractors and the best value for the project.
The recommendation to award this contract will be presented to the City Council for direction in the near future.
ISSUE:
Continue an ongoing program of infrastructure construction and maintenance.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the issuance of an invitation for competitive sealed proposals for a perimeter fence at the New Braunfels National Airport since the City finds that this delivery method will provide the best value to the City.
