BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The concept of curb management addresses the programs and policies that determine which activities are permitted or may be regulated within the public right-of-way - including loading zones, sidewalk activations (displays, café seating, etc.), parking, transit stops, and/or other curb uses. As sidewalk and curb space is limited, demands can quickly come into conflict.
Phase 1 of the Curb Management Study kicked off in March 2026 with a primary focus to better understand and plan for a variety of curbside uses within Downtown New Braunfels. Drone flights were conducted in mid-June while data was collected on the curb-activity in Downtown. A public survey accepted responses from July 21 - August 10, 2026.
Staff will present an update of the study and possible next steps.
