COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: District 4

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As part of the construction of the new Fire Station 3 Fire Department personnel had to be relocated to temporary housing.  In 2020 the City purchased a 3 bedroom, 2 bath HUD manufactured home which was placed on the NBU Headwaters property located at 333 E. Klingemann under a lease agreement with NBU.

Construction has been completed on the new Fire Station 3 and Fire Department personnel have relocated out of the temporary housing into the new station.  NBU has approached the City and requested that operational control of the building be transferred to them to serve as office space for their operations.  NBU has agreed to pay the City $65,000 for the transfer under the terms of the attached memorandum of understanding.

Upon approval, NBU will take possession of the building and the City will have no further obligations under the lease.

ISSUE:

The City does not have any additional use for the building which needs to be sold or transferred.  NBU desires to have additional office space for their staff and has requested the City transfer the building.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds from Proposition 3 of the 2019 Bond Program were used to purchase this building so all proceeds from the transfer will be deposited back into the proposition.
