BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In accordance with Texas Government Code Chapter 791, "Texas Interlocal Cooperation Act this item requests approval for the City Manager to enter into an interlocal cooperative purchasing agreement with the City of Addison, Texas. This interlocal agreement offers shared procurement opportunities between governmental entities to engage in the purchase of goods and services. By utilizing this agreement, the participating members will handle all governmental procurement requirements including the competitive bidding process, so the entities can immediately access contracts as need, saving time and money on the bidding and purchasing process. The City of New Braunfels utilizes several similar cooperatives, which adds capacity to the purchasing process without the expense of adding staff.

 

Participating entities are individually responsible for payments directly to the vendor and for the vendor's compliance with all conditions of delivery and quality of purchased items under associated contracts. Use of this agreement helps facilitate purchases at best cost and more efficiently. There is no cost associated to the use of the interlocal agreement.
