BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Fire Department provides Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to our fire fighters. This PPE is required to have advanced cleaning and inspections annually. The City contracts this service to a verified ISP according to NFPA 1851 “Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural and Proximity Fire Fighting.”
A Request for Proposals was issued on May 3, 2024 and two responses were received on May 30th. Responses were evaluated based on qualifications, quality, costs. After evaluation of the responses staff are recommending award to Lion Total Care for a multi-year contract of two (2) years ending on September 20, 2026 with the option to renew for two (2) one (one) year terms. This is line-item price contract with an annual estimated spend of $60,000.
ISSUE:
Continue an ongoing program of safety and maintenance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of the PPE cleaning and inspection is incorporated to the Fire Department annual operating budget, therefore sufficient funds are available.
