BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Staff provided an overview of these draft amendments at City Council’s July 15th Special Meeting.

The Health & Food Safety Group in the Neighborhood Services Division of the Planning and Development Services Department ensures the standards in Chapters 62 and 90 are adhered to by local food service establishments and mobile food units to ensure safe public consumption of food and beverages. Additional standards for food trucks and mobile food vendors in Chapter 144 are currently reviewed by the Planning Division of the same department. These current rules in Chapter 144 are concurrently being amended for a more streamlined process for mobile food units.
