BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The department currently has ten Pierce fire apparatus. Preventive Maintenance (PM) is important to prevent mechanical failures and maintain a reliable fleet. Currently the department is lacking PM of these heavy apparatus, and they have seen increased repair costs and a decrease in reliability. Siddons-Martin Emergency Group is the exclusive dealer for the service, parts, and warranty of the Pierce apparatus equipment and locally authorized service representative for Pierce. They would perform bi-annual maintenance on all components of the trucks to manufacture specifications, reporting and making recommendations for any needed repairs. This equipment will be on a 6-month or annual maintenance schedule which will include other repairs as required.
This contract will provide service for three (3) years with two annual renewal options. The annual maintenance is established at $94,790 per year with a total projects contract amount of $473,950 over the five-year term. Additional repairs beyond the maintenance are unknown until needed. The department has a repair budget that will support such needs for these vehicles.
ISSUE:
To maintain fiscal stability and continue to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost for the preventative maintenance is included in the FY 2024 Fire Department Operating Budget, therefore sufficient funds are available.
