BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Streets Division of the Public Works Department and the Transportation and Construction Services Department utilize on-call contracts to assist with city-wide street maintenance projects. A solicitation was required to obtain qualified contractor(s) to install and modify pavement markings on City streets on an as-needed basis in support of the City’s Public Works Department.
The City issued a contract to Roadway Striping, Inc and Interstate Barricades & Markings, Inc for pavement marking services on an as-needed basis in 2024 (agenda 24-731 for reference). Staff are requesting to modify these contracts to cover rate increases due to material cost and additional ongoing street projects. This contract is utilized by our Streets Division, and our Transportation and Construction Services department is now utilizing these contracts as well. Collectively, this has resulted in a higher-than-forecasted volume of work. The previously authorized total spend under this contract was established at the $500,000 and needs to be increased to support $1,250,000 over the five-year contract term.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The above-referenced services occur on an as-needed basis; therefore, the costs are incorporated into the appropriate capital project or departmental budgets as applicable.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend approval of a contract modification with Roadway Striping, Inc and Interstate Barricades & Markings, Inc, not to exceed $1,250,000 for the pavement marking services on an as-needed basis for the City for the life of the contract.
