BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

ISSUE:

In accordance with Chapter 85 of the Texas Administrative Code and Chapter 102 of New Braunfels Code of Ordinances, the applicant is requesting a renewal of their license to store wrecked/abandoned/towed vehicles (Vehicle Storage Facility or VSF) on property addressed at 1216 W San Antonio Street. The applicant has been issued renewals of their VSF license for this location for over 20 years.

 

The subject property is zoned C-2 which does not presently allow VSFs, however the applicant was licensed under the previous zoning definition, therefore a VSF is permitted on the property. All portions of the outdoor storage area must be enclosed by a solid screening wall or fence, not less than seven (7) feet in height. The site and structures shall meet all permitting requirements, development-related ordinances, and the adopted International Building and Fire codes.

RECOMMENDATION:

Pursuant to the currently adopted ordinance, various departments reviewed the applicant’s request and authorized within their individual scope of review (see attachment).
