BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Fire Department

There were nine additional Firefighter positions included in the FY 2024 Proposed Budget for the Fire Department. The total number of authorized positions in the Fire Department in the attached ordinance is in accordance with the positions and funding included in the Proposed FY 2024 Budget.

Additionally, the title for the Battalion Chef rank is being updated to Battalion Chief/Division Chief, and due to some internal adjustments, we are temporarily increasing the rank of Battalion Chief/Division Chief by one full-time equivalent pending the scheduling of a Battalion Chief/Division Chief exam to determine an eligibility list for promotion. This portion of the Strength of Force change is temporary in nature and will be brought back to City Council for adjustment after the City holds a Battalion Chief/Division Chief exam.

Police Department

There were nine additional Police Officer positions included in the FY 2024 Proposed Budget for the Police Department. The total number of authorized positions in the Police Department in the attached ordinance is in accordance with the positions and funding included in the Proposed FY 2024 Budget.
