Body

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:

In August 2017 the New Braunfels Regional Airport sustained damage as a result from Hurricane Harvey. The City had a facility assessment performed on the Airport Terminal and Control Tower Buildings. The City has filed property claims with FEMA and its insurance carrier, TML. The claims process is lengthy due to the many Texas claims resulting from Hurricane Harvey. If the City receives Claim funds from the FEMA and/or its property insurance, they will supplant the funds expended.

On November 27, 2017, City Council approved Debra Dockery & Associates to assess the damage and develop construction documents for renovations.  The renovations include new wood framing, drywall, insulation, flooring and caulking along windows and roof penetrations. It also includes demolishing existing sidewalks around the building and re-grading the areas to add new sidewalks that will improve the drainage around the building.

On March 14, 2018 the project was issued for bid. The City received four bids on April 12, 2018. with T. F. Harper & Associates as the low bidder for the project with a cost of $148,345. The total cost of construction including a ten percent contingency is $163,180.
