November Park Project Updates

DISCUSSION:
1. Mission Hill Park
• Phase Two will be delivered using Design Build approach.
• Proposals from contractors are under review by the City. Contract award is expected in December or January.
• Target completion is early Fall 2025.
2. Zipp Family Sports Park
• Groundbreaking event held October 25
• Construction begins in November.
• Target completion is Spring 2025.
3. Field of Graves Memorial
• Preliminary design is complete.
• Next step is an archeological investigation of the proposed memorial area in January-February 2024.
• The design process will continue in Spring 2024 based on the outcomes of the archeological investigation.
• $5,000 Arts & Heritage Grant used to purchase lychgate for entrance. Applied for 2024 Arts & Heritage grant requesting $20,000.
• Current fundraising amount $84,000 of $125,000 total.
4. Panther Canyon Rim Trail
• Construction of the new Rim Trail began in 2022 and was recently completed.
• Volunteers from the Comal Trails Alliance performed most of the labor.
• Ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday, December 2 at 10am.
