BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City of New Braunfels and Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. entered into a contract for Phase 1 of the Curb Management Study in February 2026 for $72,765. Phase 1 kicked off in March 2026 to gather existing conditions data and public input. An existing policy review was completed, drone flights were conducted in mid-June to measure curb activity, and an online public survey accepted responses from July 21 - August 10, 2026. A public open house was held on August 18, 2026, at the Civic/Convention Center.
Phase 2 of the study will combine existing conditions data and public input to develop recommendations for policies and programs to make full use of the community’s curb space, in line with industry best practices. The cost of Phase 2 is $68,000, and it requires a contract modification.
