BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Staff are requesting approval for purchase of vehicles for the Solid Waste Division. These vehicles are a combination of replacement vehicles that are being retired from service, and new vehicles use to support new capital requests approved in the FY 26 Budget. Any replacement vehicles have either met or exceeded their useful life as determined by our fleet services division.
The City will utilize multiple vendors: Chastang Autocar through a BuyBoard cooperative agreement and Doggett Freightliner of South Texas through a TIPS cooperative agreement, all of which have been competitively vetted. The schedule below will provide detail to each purchase
In addition, staff recommends declaring the replaced vehicles surplus, which allows for the future sale or donation of the asset.
ISSUE:
Staff is requesting new and replacement vehicles to maintain the fiscal stability of city operations.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The costs for the vehicles described above are incorporated into the FY 2026 Solid Waste Adopted Budget. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to purchase the vehicles.
