On July 24, 2023, City Council unanimously approved the first reading of the ordinance (7-0-0).
ISSUE:
Pahmeyer Rd., formerly a county road, was renamed in the 1970’s. Since then, several subdivisions have been established along Pahmeyer Rd and extending it southeasterly toward W Zipp Rd. Highland Ridge, Unit 1 was recorded 2/23/2023 and through its platting, extended Pahmeyer Rd. across Zipp Rd.
The continuation of Pahmeyer Rd. across W Zipp Rd. creates a continuity, linearity, and life safety issue; Pahmeyer Rd. abruptly changes into W Zipp Rd. as it continues southeasterly while there is also a W Zipp Rd. that travels southwesterly in near proximity. This issue was brought to the City’s attention in March, 2023 by the Guadalupe County Address Coordinator and in conjunction with the Comal County Address Coordinator a plan was set forth to correct the issues with this intersection.
As Pahmeyer Rd. continues southeasterly, that continuous section of W Zipp Rd. would be renamed to Pahmeyer Rd. This name change would correct the logistical and life safety issues observed with these streets. Furthermore, Guadalupe County will be changing their section of W Zipp Rd. to Pahmeyer Rd.
New block ranges have been established by both the Comal and Guadalupe Address Coordinators. There are two addressed properties in the City’s corporate limits that have been notified of these changes and eight addressed properties in the Guadalupe County section that have been notified by the Guadalupe County Address Coordinator.
