BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City of New Braunfels Animal Services Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters concerning animal shelter standards, animal care, and welfare requirements, animal rescue, and zoonotic disease prevention. The board shall consist of seven appointed members. The board shall consist of one licensed veterinarian, representing the Comal County Veterinary Medical Association, one municipal official, represented by the city's designated Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) local rabies control authority, one county official, represented by Comal County's designated TDSHS local rabies control authority, one person whose duties include the daily operation of the Humane Society of New Braunfels Area, one representative from an animal welfare organization, represented by a board member of the Humane Society of New Braunfels Area, one citizen who resides either within the city or city's extra-territorial jurisdiction, and one currently permitted commercial animal establishment facility owner or operator. The City Secretary’s Office accepted applications until March 31, 2023 and received 8 applications. The Ad Hoc committee met to review applications and recommends Dr. Anna Robinson for the Veterinarian position with an unexpired term ending November 30, 2025.
