BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

City Council unanimously approved the first reading on July 25, 2022.

While evaluating the no parking signs on the north side of Hill Avenue at the request of staff at Fire Station 1, staff also found signs for a no parking zone for the south side of Hill Avenue from the intersection with W San Antonio Street to the public angled on-street parking area toward the intersection with W Coll Street. There is currently no ordinance to support this no parking zone and existing no parking signs on the south side of Hill Avenue. In order to preserve operations at Fire Station 1 and prevent conflicts of parked vehicles with entering and existing fire trucks, establishing an ordinance for no parking to support the existing signs is recommended.

ISSUE:

The south side of Hill Avenue outside Fire Station 1 is signed as a no parking zone and requires an ordinance to enforce it.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Traffic control signs cost approximately $150 each. Sufficient funding is available in the FY 2022 approved streets and drainage budget.Recommendation

RECOMMENDATION:

Transportation and Traffic Advisory Board

The Transportation and Traffic Advisory Board unanimously recommended approval at their July 14, 2022, meeting.
