BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

A presentation regarding these proposed fee adjustments was given at the August 12th FY 2025 Budget Workshop. Camp fees require a modification to maintain the quality of services provided at Camp Minnehaha and the Fischer Nature Center. The cost of food and other key camp operational supplies have increased significantly due to inflation in recent years and is only expected to increase in 2024. Additionally, competitive staff pay has been necessary to attract qualified staff and provide a quality experience for campers.

The proposed fee adjustment is as follows:

As the table illustrates, the increase is higher for non-residents. This is to support the Council’s desire to make this highly sought after program more available to residents in need of these services during the summer months.

ISSUE:

The Camp fees for Minnehaha and Fischer Park Nature Camp are proposed to be modified to assist in the recovery of costs associated with maintaining quality services, keep in line with inflationary costs of food and supplies, and to assist in maintaining competitive staff pay.
