BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

This item requests approval for the City Manager to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) purchasing agreement with the Brownsville Independent School District, in accordance with Texas Government Code Chapter 791 which allows a city to enter into an agreement with another local government entity for the purchase goods one from the another. This MOU will allow the Brownsville ISD to purchase from the City nine (9) surplus police department vehicles. These nine surplus vehicles are 2018 and older models, (6 Ford Explorers, 2 F150s and 1 Ford Taurus). Staff is requesting that these vehicles be declared as surplus and sold at a reasonable market cost. The total purchase price for the 9 surplus vehicles is $58,500.00.

 

 

ISSUE:

The current MOU must have council approval.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval to authorize the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding Purchasing Agreement with the Brownsville Independent School District for the purchase of nine (9) surplus vehicles and to declare such vehicles as surplus.
