BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Texas Election Code requires the preparation and issuance of a certificate of election “for each candidate who is election to an office for which the official result is determined by that authority’s canvass.” See Sec. 67.016. No City Council action is required for the issuance of the certificate by the City Secretary once the canvassing is completed by the City Council. The canvass of the results occurred at a special City Council meeting held on June 22, 2026.
ISSUE:
Conforming with the Election Code.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.

Move forward with issuing Certificate of Election.
