BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City of New Braunfels was awarded the Texas Transparency Trailblazer Award by the Texas State Comptroller, Glen Hagar, for achieving the highest levels of transparency in the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars Program.
The Transparency Stars Program, which began in 2016 and is marking its 10th year, recognizes government entities that accomplish the following:
• Open their books in one or more of six categories: traditional finances, contracts and procurement, economic development, public pensions, debt obligations, and open government and compliance.
• Provide clear and meaningful financial information by posting financial documents, as well as thorough summaries, visualizations, downloadable data and other relevant information.
The City of New Braunfels was 1 of only 19 local governments that earned five or six of the possible six Transparency Stars and achieved the Trailblazer status.
This award reflects the hard work and dedication of the City’s Finance Department, City Secretary’s Office, and Economic and Community Development Department. The City’s Transparency Page can be found at <https://newbraunfels.gov/2316/Transparency>.
This award reflects the dedication of the Finance Department and the City to uphold transparency and accountability throughout City operations. These awards recognize the significant effort and dedication of Finance staff in ensuring both transparency and the delivery of high-quality financial reporting for the City and the community. The Finance Department is committed to producing financial reports that are clear, concise, and accessible, ensuring they are easily understood by all stakeholders, including citizens, Council members, and City staff.
