BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On December 9, 2024, City Council approved the award of a joint-bid contract between the City of New Braunfels and New Braunfels Utilities, with Capital Excavation Company for the construction of the Goodwin/Conrads Lane Project. After the completion of the bidding and award process, the project was deemed to exceed the original engineer’s estimate. A project budget amendment is needed to supplement the projected overage of $875,000. Staff recommends utilizing available funds in service area 3 of the Roadway Impact Fee Fund.

Increase: Goodwin/Conrads Lane- $875,000

Additionally, opportunities for additional intersection improvements have been identified within the 2023 Bond Fund project for Citywide Intersections. Both projects are identified as Roadway Impact Fee-eligible projects within Service Area 1. To maximize the intersection improvement program, the total identified below will is proposed to be utilized from District 1 of the Roadway Fee Impact Fund:

Increase: Intersection Improvements - $1,127,142
