BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

City Council approved a construction contract for Fire Station 7 on June 13, 2022, and a construction contract for the Fire Training Site Infrastructure Improvements on March 31, 2023. Both projects are located on FM 306 adjacent to the current NBU Service Center and require new commercial water and wastewater connections. In accordance with NBU’s current water & and wastewater connection policy, the projects incur connection and impact fees in the amounts of $115,121.50 for Fire Station 7 and $260,815.00 for the Fire Training Site Infrastructure project. The total water & and wastewater fees for both projects are $375,936.50.

ISSUE:

Strategic Priorities: Continue an ongoing program of infrastructure construction and maintenance.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The total cost for both projects including design, equipment, and construction is funded by the Creekside Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ). The utility impact fees were anticipated in the overall project budgets and therefore sufficient funds are available in the project budgets.
