BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As part of Proposition 2 of the 2019 Bond Program, the Zipp Family Sports Park project requires 3 independent restroom and concession buildings to serve the sports fields. Staff selected and City Council approved a contract in the amount of $867,030 with Restroom Facilities LTD, (RFL), on March 22, 2021, to provide the buildings and installation services. Council also approved a contingency amount of $86,343 for a total of $953,373.
Staff has received cost updates throughout the design process and accounted for them in the project budget. This modification will update the contract to reflect those changes. A contract modification for structural changes in the concession stand areas of the three buildings is requested at a net cost of $68,715. The second request is to support construction material cost adjustments. The contract rates originally established were based on 2021 construction materials costs. The contract allows for an equitable adjustment for material increases. The project has been in design and is now preparing for construction which is resulting in an adjustment of $296,439 for the updated construction material cost. Staff are requesting a contract modification of $365,154. The new contract total will be $1,232,184 with a contingency of $86,343 for a total approved amount of $1,318,527.
ISSUE:
Continue an ongoing program of infrastructure, construction, and maintenance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funds requested are within the project budget. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to approve the purchase described above.
