BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Das Rec opened in 2018 and quickly exceeded its membership goals. The initial design of the facility centralized all restroom facilities between the aquatic facilities and the fitness floor. The existing restroom facilities require patrons using the gymnasium or workout studios to cross the building to use restrooms, which is inconvenient for the workout studios or gymnasium. This project will provide schematic and final design services to repurpose an existing underutilized concession space into an additional centralized restroom facility and janitorial space.
A task order for design services was issued on May 7, 2024, and the city received five responses. City staff evaluated and scored the responses and selected Sunland Group, Inc. as the most qualified design professional.
Staff is recommending approval for Sunland Group, Inc. to proceed with the design scope of work at a fee of $56,293.
