BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The intent and purpose of the Meet and Confer Agreement between the City of New Braunfels and the New Braunfels Professional Firefighters Association (“Fire Association”) is to maintain harmonious relations between the parties, specifically related to the hiring and promotional practices. The original effective date of the Agreement between the parties was effective as of October 1, 2019.  From time to time, the labor association may desire to resume negotiations on the terms of the Agreement. Such negotiations are governed by state law found in Subchapter C of Chapter 142, Texas Local Government Code. This type of labor agreement does not deny local control by the City except to the extent explicitly agreed to in the Meet and Confer Agreement.

 

 

ISSUE:

In accordance with the current Meet and Confer Agreement, the Fire Association notified the City on Monday, June 3, 2024, that it would like to discuss potential amendments to the Agreement. The first meeting to discuss potential amendments occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024 and this meeting serves as the second discussion of any potential amendments.
