COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: All
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In order to be consistent with state statute, the City of New Braunfels will need to amend Chapter 6-110 Disposition of Domestic Animals Exposed to Rabies. This will reduce the time requirement that an unvaccinated animal is to be in isolation, from 6 months to 90 days. It will also reduce the time requirement for a vaccinated animal to be in isolation, from 3 months to 45 days.
ISSUE:
The current city code requires a longer isolation time for domestic animals that are exposed to rabies than what the state requires. This update of the local code would reflect the State of Texas requirements.
