BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The City’s adopted 2024-2029 Strategic Plan includes objectives pertaining to public safety and fiscal sustainability.

As such, the City Council approved a resolution in February 2024 to support the grant application process, including the designation of the City Manager as the authorized official for funding provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for Program Year 2025. This program is administered by the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office. In December 2024, the City was awarded funding for the New Braunfels Police Department to purchase drive-over scales to be used in their law enforcement activities of commercial motor vehicles.
