BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The City contracted with Vickrey & Associates to develop a preliminary design for Alligator Creek Trail East and West.  This was completed in December 2021. This amendment will provide for final design and construction documents based on the preliminary design for West Alligator Creek. The final design would only include the 46-acre greenbelt located along Alligator Creek east of Goodwin Lane. The proposed Alligator Creek Trail is located in a rapidly developing part of the city and opportunities for trail connections are plentiful. The cost to complete the design is $146,761. Staff recommends an additional 10% contingency be approved, which would provide a not to exceed amount of $161,437.

In February the City applied for Texas Parks & Wildlife Department trail grant to help secure construction dollars for a portion of the trail in the 46-acres. The City will learn if it was awarded the grant at the end of May.
