BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Identified as a possible project in the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation (NBEDC) Strategic Plan, a Comal River Master Plan project would serve as a coordinated plan for the river corridor to serve as a long-term shared roadmap to guide the protection, balanced growth and stewardship of property in and around the Comal River. The plan is intended to explore options of how the river can enhance economic development by improving access and amenities of one of the region’s most significant tourism and placemaking assets and will include analysis at Hinman Island Park, Prince Solms Park, Tube Chute Park, and other areas adjacent to the Comal River.

This project addresses three of the four NBEDC strategic priorities:

-                     Planning and Infrastructure

-                     Enhancing Quality of Life

-                     Business Recruitment and Retention

ISSUE:

Evaluate the possibility of a coordinated plan for improvements to the Comal River Area.
