Discuss and consider approval of a resolution in support of proposed state legislation that creates an exception in the law that will allow the City of New Braunfels City Council to approve the creation of a cemetery within the corporate limits of the City; and requesting state legislators support such legislation.

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:
This item is a request from a private citizen who wants to establish a private, for-profit cemetery but needs state law to be amended to allow it. Mr. Alfred Leos, who is represented by attorney David Pfeuffer, is requesting this resolution of support for amendments to state law to allow for the creation of a new private cemetery within the corporate limits of New Braunfels.
If state law is changed, the persons responsible for the establishment of the cemetery will have to seek City Council approval and comply with requirements set forth in a future ordinance to provide for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens.
Mr. Leos and Mr. Pfeuffer will be at the Council meeting to present the request to the City Council.
