BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In July 2025, the City launched a managed paid parking program in Downtown to improve access, increase turnover, and support consistent enforcement. In December 2025, a Downtown Parking Revenue Advisory Committee, a standing committee of the Downtown Board, was created by city council and seven (7) members were appointed in January 2026.  Members represent the New Braunfels Downtown Board, Downtown Association, Convention & Visitors Bureau, downtown property or business owners, and city residents.  The committee’s envisioned purpose is to serve in an advising and recommending capacity to ensure the parking system and its benefits accrue to the broadest set of users in the downtown area.  This agenda item includes a discussion about the Committee’s structure, mission, and goals to improve downtown parking access and mobility, guide strategic reinvestment of parking revenues, support economic vitality and safety, and advise on parking policy and operations.

ISSUE:

This is the first meeting of the Downtown Parking Revenue Advisory Standing Committee where members will become familiar with their individual roles and those of this committee.
