BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The New Braunfels City Council approved a resolution establishing the Business Improvement & Preservation Grant Program at its October 23, 2023 meeting.

 

An online grant application was opened in late October 2023 and the Economic and Community Development department has collected applications for the TIRZ 3 Board to review on a semi-monthly rolling basis. A total of nine grants for seven different applicants have been approved by the TIRZ 3 Board and City Council.

 

Staff will present grant applications received, in full, by August 3, 2026. Applicants receiving grant approval from the TIRZ 3 will be advanced to City Council for final consideration.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The TIRZ 3 fund balance will be considered before approving any grants - ensuring the fund has capacity remit the grant payment. Final grant approval will be made by City Council at a future meeting.
