BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As part of the ongoing Citywide Street Improvements project approved in the 2023 Bond, the McQueeney Road improvements project includes a mill and overlay of the roadway and selective repair of base materials along with the installation/replacement of curb ramps and sidewalks, from IH-35 Frontage Road to County Line Road.
A solicitation for competitive sealed proposals was issued on August 13, 2024, and the City received four (4) proposals on September 26, 2024. City Staff reviewed the proposals and selected Dean Word Company, Ltd. as the best value after consensus scoring.
Dean Word Company’s proposal includes $1,065,623.65 for the planned improvements. Staff recommends approval of a 7% owners’ contingency of $74,593 to the project, bringing the construction amount for roadway improvements to $1,140,216.65.
Terracon Consultants, Inc. will provide material testing services under their master service agreement with the City at an estimated cost of $15,980.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The full project cost has been allocated in the FY 2025 Budget for the 2023 Bond Citywide Streets Project. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to award the contract as described above.
