BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Consistent with Texas Election law, the City of New Braunfels is required to canvass and declare the results of its duly ordered election.  On May 11, 2026, the City Council of the City of New Braunfels ordered a Runoff Election to be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the purpose of electing a mayor and a councilperson for New Braunfels City Council District 6.  The City Council has investigated all matters pertaining to the runoff election, including the order, giving notice, officers, holding and making returns of the general election, all as required by applicable federal, state, and local law, and determines that this election was duly ordered; proper notice of this election was given; proper election officers were duly appointed prior to this election; the election was duly held; the City has complied with the federal, state, and local law; and due returns of the result of this election have been made and delivered, all in accordance with the law and the Ordinance calling the election.

 

 

ISSUE:

Whether to approve the ordinance that accepts June 13, 2026, Runoff election canvass returns and results.

Staff recommends approval of the ordinance accepting the Runoff election canvass return and election results.
