BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Comal County Fair Parade is an annual community event, taking place every September, and commemorates the start of the annual Comal County Fair. The Dia de los Muertos Festival is an annual community festival, taking place every October, and celebrates Dia de los Muertos and Hispanic culture in New Braunfels. Downtown Lighting is an annual community event, taking place the end of every November, and commemorates the start of the holiday season with the lightning of Downtown New Braunfels and Santa’s arrival. Wassailfest is an annual community event, taking place every December, and honors a New Braunfels tradition by celebrating food, music, wassail, and holiday fun. Wurstfest is an annual community event, taking place every November, which celebrates the rich German culture throughout the area.

 

These events require closure of SH 46 Business for over four hours. Approval of the TxDOT agreement will allow the road closure for these events for the following five-year period.

 

ISSUE:

The City of New Braunfels must have a signed resolution indicating the intent to enter into an agreement with TxDOT for the closure of a TxDOT maintained roadway.

FISCAL IMPACT:
