BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In accordance with Texas Government Code Chapter 791, this item requests approval for the City Manager to enter into an Interlocal Agreement purchasing agreement with The City of Denton. This Interlocal Agreement offers shared procurement opportunities between governmental entities to engage in the purchase of goods and services. By utilizing this agreement, the participating members will handle all governmental procurement requirements including the competitive bidding process, so the entities can immediately access contracts as need, saving time and money on the bidding and purchasing process. The City of New Braunfels utilizes several similar cooperatives, which adds capacity to the purchasing process without the expense of adding staff.

Participating entities are individually responsible for payments directly to the vendor and for the vendor's compliance with all conditions of delivery and quality of purchased items under associated contracts. Use of this agreement helps facilitate purchases at best cost and more efficiently. There is no cost associated with the use of the Interlocal Agreement.

This particular agreement is at the request of the City of Denton and will allow them to utilize our  agreement with Alternative Claims Management (ACM) for Third Party Claims Collection Services.
