DISCUSSION:
New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department has been named a finalist for the National Gold Medal award for the 4th time. The grand plaque recipient will be announced at the NRPA Conference in October.
The Park Foundation hosted the 3rd Annual Golf FORE Parks Tournament on April 5th. A total of $13,550.00 was raised to benefit the New Braunfels Parks System.
The New Braunfels Jaycees held a tree planting event for the organization’s 90th anniversary on April 6th. A total of 90 trees were planted: 80 at Fischer Park and 10 Prince Solms Park.
Amy Smith has been selected as the new Das Rec Manager. She previously held the position of Athletic and Fitness Supervisor Das Rec.
Saengerfest was held on May 4th in downtown. The crowds were lower than previous years, but the Park Foundation was still able to raise $16,300 to go towards downtown park improvements.
18 new concrete picnic tables were installed on May 15th in Landa Park between Landa Park Drive and Landa Lake. These tables are from the $50,000 donation received from Sonora Bank.
The Comal Cemetery received a Texas Historical Marker, and a dedication was held on May 16th with the Comal County Historical Commission.
