BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Fire Department is requesting to purchase two new ambulance chassis and to remount two existing modular box portions with needed updates. The remount of two existing ambulances, a 2011 model and 2013 model will save the City thousands of dollars and allow us to reuse viable equipment. A remount consists of removing the modular box portion, placing it on a new chassis and refurbishing several components of the box. The City will purchase the Stryker Power Load Stretchers directly from Stryker and have the equipment installed by Frazer during the other box updates.
Staff are recommending the remounts be conducted through Frazer who is administering the contract through Ford Dealer Sterling McCall Ford. The city will utilize the BuyBoard cooperative agreement which meets the competitive procurement requirements. The units will include 2 Stryker Power Load stretcher devices as update equipment for the units. The total purchase costs are as follows:
Unit 1- $ 181,671
Unit 2- $ 181,345
Sterling McCall Ford - Total $ 360,016
2 Stryker Power Load Stretcher Device- $ 44,782.24
Total Expenditures $407,798.24
ISSUE:
Public Safety - Continue to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Public Safety proposition within the 2019 Bond Fund is expected to have savings at the completion of construction of the facilities. At this point, the savings will allow for the purchase of the vehicles referenced above. If for some unforeseen reason the savings will be needed to address a facility issue, the FY 2023 General Fund budget will absorb the costs.
