BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
City staff has been working with New Braunfels ISD on an event traffic control plan for the Long Creek High School Stadium currently under construction. The plan's goals focus on maintaining efficient traffic flow before, during, and after events and minimizing traffic disruptions to the adjacent residential areas. As part of the plan development, it was determined that parking restrictions are necessary to prevent parking along some streets adjacent to the stadium where traffic operations would be obstructed.
City engineering, the New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD), and New Braunfels ISD staff reviewed existing and proposed roadway, pavement marking, and sign plans to identify areas that cannot accommodate on-street parking without obstructing traffic operations but may still be appealing to event goers due to the close proximity to the stadium. NBPD officers indicated that installing “no parking” signs in these areas would best deter parking and support consistent enforcement efforts. Portions of Zipp Road, Klein Meadows, and Legend Pond were recommended for parking restrictions, and a loading zone is recommended for the cluster mailbox on Legend Pond south of Gentle Meadow. These recommended parking restrictions do not impact on-street parking in front of residential homes.
A temporary traffic order has been secured from the Chief of Police in order for the “no parking” and loading zone signs to be installed while city staff brings the ordinance to the Transportation and Traffic Advisory Board and City Council for approval. Signs will be installed prior to the first home game at the new stadium on September 11, 2026.
