BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As part of daily operations at New Braunfels National Airport/City Terminal Flight services, aircraft frequently request auxiliary power for engine starts and powering aircraft systems without the need to have engines running. A Ground Power Unit is a mobile auxiliary power unit that connects to an aircraft’s electrical system provide either 120V AC or 28V DC power. The Airport currently owns one Jetex 6 GPU. A second GPU is necessary to handle increased ramp operations and to have a backup in case one GPU goes down for maintenance. To maintain uniformity of equipment, continuity of service, and efficiency, a second GPU of the same make is required.
The City issued a request for proposal on July 7, 2023 and received five (5) responses for a GPU. Staff are recommending the award to Bassco Services for $61,750.
ISSUE:
Continue support for Airport operations equipment and infrastructure
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding for this purchase is incorporated in the FY 2023 Airport Budget.
