COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: City-wide

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Staff are requesting approval for purchase of an MB Urbanliner 240 pavement marking truck. The new equipment will be utilized by the Streets & Drainage Department to enhance citywide street striping efforts. As discussed during the FY 2027 budget process, this equipment is part of the process to transition these efforts to an in-house crew and truck, reducing costs while expanding coverage significantly.

Benefits of internal street striping initiative:

•                     Operational Control: In-house crews allow for immediate response to safety needs

and direct quality oversight.

•                     Enhanced Safety: Lower costs enable more frequent restriping, maintaining high

visibility and ADA compliance.

•                     Long-Term Value: Moving away from outsourcing builds internal expertise and

stretches maintenance budgets further.

The city recommends utilizing M-B Companies Inc. to purchase the equipment through a Sourcewell cooperative Agreement, which has been competitively vetted.  The schedule below provides details of the purchase.
