BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Union Avenue Rehabilitation Project was approved as part of the 2023 Bond Program Citywide Streets Improvements.  This project proposes to rehabilitate existing street pavement, curbs and sidewalks.  It will also enhance safety, improve pavement markings, signage and repair or address curb and sidewalk gaps.  As part of this project, the City will need to acquire a small portion of two properties to make these improvements.

ISSUE:

Initial offers were sent to the affected property owners in April and Staff has been negotiating and has reached settlements with both property owners for the acquisition and of the right of way and damages for improvements on the property.  Sec. 2-130 (4) of the City of New Braunfels Code of Ordinances requires all property purchases to be approved by City Council.
