BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Comal County ESD 7 contracts exclusively with the New Braunfels Fire Department to provide fire and emergency services to their district. Comal County ESD 7 has purchased one “Rescue Truck” and ordered a “Water Tender” to be used by the Fire Department in delivery of these services. The attached interlocal agreement allows for ESD 7 to purchase fire trucks, vehicles, and equipment which will support the purchase of the Rescue Truck, as well as additional equipment as agreed. The Fire Department will be responsible for maintaining care, custody and control as long as they continue to provide contracted services to ESD 7.
ISSUE:
An interlocal agreement is required so the Fire Department can utilize fire trucks, vehicles and equipment purchased by Comal County ESD 7 for use in providing emergency services.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The city will be responsible for operating costs of the fire trucks, vehicles, and equipment to include maintenance, fuel, and insurance. The current Fire Department’s operating budget can support these costs.
