SUBJECT: Title

Approval of the second and final reading of an ordinance to amend Section 126-381 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of New Braunfels to reduce the term of the resident river parking pass from 3 years to 1 year, and to authorize management and enforcement authority to include parking enforcement agents.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The City of New Braunfels wants to transition the resident river parking pass from a physical sticker that has to be acquired in person to an online pass. In the past, the resident river parking pass was increased to a 3-year pass to make it easier for residents since they had to come in person to the office to obtain their pass once every three years. With the online parking pass accessibility eliminating the need for residents to come to the office to receive their pass, the proposed ordinance will reduce the pass term to one year, with an online application and an online annual renewal. The City’s third-party contractor, Interstate Parking Company of Texas LLC, as an authorized parking enforcement agent, will be responsible for managing the resident river parking pass program, which includes notifying residents when it is time to renew their annual parking pass.
