Approval to authorize the City Manager to execute a Utility Cooperative Agreement with Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) for the reimbursement of utility relocation costs necessitated by the Klein Road Reconstruction Project.

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:
Klein Road Reconstruction project was approved under Proposition One of the 2013 Bond Program. The City has deemed it necessary to reconstruct Klein road between Walnut Avenue and FM1044.
The proposed roadway reconstruction will necessitate the installation, adjustment, removal, and/or relocation of certain electrical facilities owned by GVEC. Currently, all GVEC infrastructure is located within utility owned easements and the widening of Klein Road will cause hardship to the utility in its current location. As a result an agreement of reimbursement by the CITY to GVEC will need to be considered.

Expenditures associated with GVEC design and utility relocation are a component of the Klein Road Reconstruction Project, therefore, sufficient funds are available to approve the Cooperative Agreement.

Staff recommends approval of the Utility Cooperative Agreement with GVEC in the amount of $174,342.06 for the relocation of the utility infrastructure on Klein Road.
